The look of the home is the defining feature since it’s not too often that you encounter an ultra-modern home made of mirrors parked in the middle of the desert.
Although, now I can’t help but think of Nathan Fielder’s The Curse, when I see this home. Just watch out for those air pockets! Okay, that’s just an inside joke from anyone who finished that series.
Back to the this Joshua Tree Airbnb. The Invisible House was thought up by Chris Hanley, a famous film producer who also has a knack for design and with the help of architect Tomas Osinski, they brought this art to life.
The house is 5,500 square feet, was constructed in an eco-friendly manner, and sits on 90 acres, which is also the largest privately-owned piece of land to border Joshua Tree National Park that’s available for rent.
It’s within a few minutes’ drive of Joshua Tree National Park and all the cool things to do in downtown Joshua Tree.

This is one of the best Airbnbs in Joshua Tree because we stayed at it! In all seriousness, we did stay here and absolutely enjoyed our little love-cation here.

This Joshua Tree vacation rental is incredibly special. Not only is it an incredible place to star gaze, or watch outdoor movies from the hot tub, but if you are a fan of the iconic television show “I Love Lucy”, this is the best Joshua Tree Airbnb for you! The Art of the Desert is a 1954 “New Moon long trailer” that was, at one time, in the possession of Lucille Ball.
This 400-square-foot, recently renovated mobile home is situated on 2.5 acres of private land, just ten minutes away from Joshua Tree National Park.
The Art of the Desert features a mid-century design, bohemian aesthetic, and panoramic mountain views. You will be treated to glowy sunrises and sunsets, and stargazing at night in a super-cool clear dome on the property grounds.
Other features of the home include a seasonal cowboy pool, outdoor shower, natural wood-burning fireplace, BBQ, fire pit, outdoor movie projector, and an 800 square foot wooden deck and bench.

Many of the vacation rentals in Joshua Tree have scenic views of the desert, but don’t necessarily offer close views of one of the defining natural features of the area, the boulders. Guests staying at the Prism property definitely won’t be lacking in views of these rock formations, because the home is surrounded by boulders.

Hawkeye Dome

About the house’s design, it is a geodesic dome structure that has been completely remodeled. It is an off-grid property, so the house is solar-powered and uses batteries.
The pool here is the showstopper. It’s a 40 foot pool with underwater windows that are 8 feet tall overlooking the desert landscape and mountains. Can you imagine the views from those windows, as well as the photo opportunities? The pool is open year round, and you can heat the pool for an extra fee.
