Exploring Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul

Dongdaemun Design Plaza
Dongdaemun is a famous shopping mecca for locals and foreigners. The open markets are home to thousands of small vendors, giant department stores, specialty stores, and your basic retail stores. There are more shops than you could visit for both regular and wholesale shoppers. You can find an array of goods ranging from silks, fabrics, clothes, shoes, accessories, electronics, pet products, leather goods, sporting goods, and more!

You could get lost easily while wandering around the open markets. This area is also known for finding deals. People will flock to Dongdaemun to shop when they want to save money and have an enormous selection. This may not be the best Dongdaemun Design Plazaplace to stroll around for hours with men seeing how this place is a shopping mall on something more than steroids.

If you’re not into shopping then don’t worry! You have Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP). This space ship looking building just opened this past spring and was designed by world renowned architect Zaha Hadid. This enormous structure is worth walking around. The design is so beautiful and unique unlike anything we have ever seen before.

Don’t just look at it, go inside and explore! DDP is divided into different sections hosting various events, stores, restaurants, and even a stop to the subway. Wander inside the building and walk along the futuristic hallways and staircases drenched in white. Even though there is lack of color inside, the plain photos turn out stunningly beautiful. Somehow you are able to capture the curves of the white interior and it really is eye candy.[/text_output][justified_image_grid preset=17 gallery ids=”10676,10671,10675″ row_height=300 lightbox=foobox mobile_lightbox=foobox]
