Stop Waiting & Take The First Step

For a long time Megan and I have been talking about making vlogs. We kept putting it off, waiting for things to line up and present the perfect opportunity for us to start vlogging. Unfortunately this is the real world and life is a real thing that is always getting in the way. We realized we were going to be waiting forever for things to be perfect, so we decided to give it a good ol’ fashion college try and just go for it.

Maybe that perfect moment is in here.

So when we went to Fukuoka for a Visa run we decided to take the first step. We shot one video every day as a crash course into vlogging with the goal of learning what we needed to work on.

In terms of getting the content up and ready it was a huge success. We were able to pull off five acceptable videos. But there is a lot of room for improvement. Mainly our audio and having a story to share.

Unlike the audio on our videos, we heard your messages loud and clear and will be working on how to make the audio better. Not only louder, but get rid of that super annoying metal noise whenever we turn the camera.

A huge thanks to everyone for their feedback on Facebook, YouTube, our blog, and via messages. It is greatly appreciated at helping us take our next step.

We wouldn’t have gotten any of this wonderful feedback, nor learned any of the mistakes we were going to make unless we just bit the bullet and did it. Did we bite off more than we could chew, probably. But now we know and can make the adjustment.

I want to talk about this because that is life in a nutshell. The reality is things are never going to be perfect and there is going to be way more days where we feel blah and a million other things getting in the way of us finding that “perfect time” to start whatever it is we want to do. Whether it’s vlogging, saving money, or any other goal.

It’s extremely important to take that first step. The path ahead may seem overwhelming at times but take action and put a plan together and just start. It’s surprising how far it will take you in a year if you continue.

I can vividly remember wanting so badly to save money for travel and moving to another country. It took me over three years to finally get the courage to do it. I now look back and kick myself wondering why I ever hesitated. I can’t help but wonder how much farther on my journey I would be if I only took that step earlier.

Don’t let that happen to you.

During the journey Megan and I both wanted a fun way to keep in touch with family and friends as well as document our trips, so we wanted to blog. It took us eight months of talking about it until made it happen.

Now all of these things are just a part of our daily lives and these new things you decide to learn, explore, or do can soon be a big part of yours as well.

I think the biggest issue for us all is wondering if we will have the time. I promise you, you absolutely will. You will find the time if it’s something you enjoy because you will replace that time by no longer doing some of the activities that don’t bring you as much joy and happiness.

So take that first step with us. Start actively designing your lifestyle the way you want it. We want to help motivate and inspire you along the way. If there is anyway we can help you with along your personal journey let us know.

Have you ever put something off only to kick yourself later and regret not starting earlier? Let us know in the comments below?
