This is a happening spot and it doesn’t get anymore vibrant and energetic than in Midtown. Besides Times Square, Broadway and Rockefeller Center, Midtown also boasts Grand Central Terminal, Radio City, St. Patricks Cathedral and a stroll down 6th Avenue is great for the Mad-Men fans as the architecture is straight out of that era. Bear in mind, this is a bit of a more pricey neighborhood to stay in New York City, but you pay for what you get, this is one of the most desired neighborhoods in the city.
Nearby attractions include Washington Square Park, one of the Joe’s Pizza locations, Bleecker Street Records, IFC Center, the famous Comedy Cellar, MacDougal Sullivan Gardens, the many restaurants in the area, NYU, the Whitney Museum of Art, and America’s oldest apothecary C.O. The Jane is where to stay in New York City West Village for those on a budget who want to stay in this pricey neighborhood at a great rate. The Club Quarters Hotel is located conveniently alongside the World Trade Center for one of the best locations in the Financial District overlooking the 9/11 memorial and museum. The rooms are bar is offering workspaces, mini-fridges, and microwaves. Upgrade to a suite that offers dining areas and kitchenettes. Make sure to check out the restaurant that has amazing city views with their floor to ceiling windows and terrace as well as the lounge with free drinks.

Even if you don’t stay here, you’ll want to check out this hotel for yourself.
Upper East Side
The Upper East Side is where to stay in New York City if you want to blend in with some of Manhattan’s wealthiest folks. The area is filled with ritzy restaurants, designer shopping, brownstone and upscale high rises, and museums.

The West Side YMCA offers no-fuss bare bones accommodation in an incredible Upper West Side location overlooking Central Park. The bathrooms are shared, but you can upgrade to get a private room and bath. The location is excellent, especially or the price.

The Empire Hotel is an excellent option for the Upper West Side and you may recognize this hotel if you were a fan of Gossip Girl. Directly across the street from the Lincoln Center and just 2 blocks from Central Park this has one of the best locations in the city. The rooms are chic and sophisticated with eclectic artwork and designer toiletries. Don’t forget to check out the amazing rooftop lounge with a killer view as well as the outdoor rooftop pool.

Ok, so finally where to stay in New York City that’s not in Manhattan! Just across the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges is the trendy neighborhood of DUMBO. Adorably cobblestone streets and converted warehouse buildings make up this incredible aesthetic and highly desirable neighborhood. Filled with independent boutiques, restaurants, trendy cafes, and killer views you can’t help but fall in love with this area. Sadly, there aren’t a lot of options here but if DUMBO is within your budget we highly recommend staying here.

This is where to stay in New York City for just about every traveler, except it comes at a cost since there aren’t many options for hotels. You’re easily able to get back to Manhattan for any sightseeing and have an amazing view of the city as well as being in one of the trendiest spots of the city.
Nearby attractions include the famous Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge Park, galleries, Jane’s Carousel, and killer views of Manhattan’s skyline.
