I figured that if I am staying this far out of the city and the area is so famous for its hot springs and beauty, I might as well go full-on.

WENSHAN 文山區
Wenshan is where to stay in Taipei if you like to be in a little more of a remote area and want some views and natural landscapes. Wenshan is surrounded by mountains and a bit removed from the city. It’s mainly visited by locals looking for a break from the city.

Picking a hotel in Zhongshan is kind of tricky because it’s a larger area. But this property is steps away from Xingtian Temple Subway Station. The subway lines don’t go through this district so well, so this is a great choice for where to stay in Taipei in Zhongshan because you’re less than 100 feet (30 meters) from the subway! DA’AN 大安區
Fun fact, Da’an means great safety or great peace, so it should come to no surprise that this is where to stay in Taipei if you like some peace and quiet. This is more of a quiet residential area. While it still has plenty to offer you it will be a bit more calm than say Xinyi’s financial district.
But there’s still a great nightlife scene here along Yongkang Street which is filled with cafes, restaurants, and bars.
Da’an is known for its upscale shopping districts, vibrant nightlife, and cultural landmarks, making it a sought-after area to visit and one of the best places to stay in Taipei.

If you stay in Taipei long enough you’ll notice there are some huge differences between hotels, some are insanely outdated. We like Park Taipei Hotel because of its close proximity to three subway lines making it convenient, but we also work out while traveling so having a gym and a jacuzzi, as well as ultra-modern rooms is a really nice touch. SHIDA & GONGGUAN 師大 & 公館
Technically both Shida and Gongguan are a part of the Da’an district but more focused on college life and a younger crowd we decided to share them as their own since this is where to stay in Taipei if you’re looking for a younger scene.
This is the college town, boasting two famous universities, National Taiwan Normal University and the prestigious National Taiwan University. Since it’s a college town you can expect it to be more eclectic and vibrant, filled with tons of great food spots, cool art, and quirky shops. It also boasts another one of Taipei’s infamous night markets. The Shida Night Market!
