Old Town
The Scene
Old Town is where to stay in Prague if you love to be in the heart of the city. It’s bursting at the seams with tourists mid-day because of its home to a good majority of the city’s historical and famous landmarks.
Besides having popular tourist attractions, Old Town is genuinely beautiful with gorgeous buildings and perfectly winding cobblestone lanes. Of course, there are plenty of restaurants and places to grab a drink and shops galore. You’ll always find something going on here.

There are so many attractions here, including many Czech Republic UNESCO sites, which is why it’s such a desirable place. Some main attractions include Old Town Square, the astronomical clock, the Jewish Quarter, Old New Synagogue, Kinsky Palace, and the Charles Bridge leading to Lesser Town.

Lesser Town
The Scene
Lesser Town is where to stay in Prague if you don’t want to be in the busy streets if Old Town, but be just a walk across the Charles Bridge away from all the action. Lesser Town is full of beautiful cobblestone streets, baroque facades, fantastic eateries, museums, and steep streets. You feel like you’re in a storybook over here.

Lesser Town is the best place to stay in Prague if you’re on business or just want to stay close to the heart of the city and walking distance from all the attractions. This is where all the government buildings and embassies are located. It’s also a bit more quiet of a neighborhood as it is more residential than Old Town.

Lesser Town is directly across from Old Town on the other side of the Charles Bridge and goes all the way up to Prague Castle. There are tons of dining options, hotels, pubs, John Lennon Wall, the canals of Little Venice, Wallenstein Garden, and the Franz Kafta Museum.

Vrsovice, aka Prague 10, is where to stay in Prague if you want to get away from crowds and blend in with the local hip and up and coming neighborhood. The laidback streets are filled with beautiful bourgeoisie homes, art deco buildings, cafes, eateries, and some great nightlife options.

This is the best place to stay in Prague for the traveler looking to get to know the city beyond the touristy centers of Old Town, New Town, and Lesser Town. With public transport being so inexpensive you can quickly get to those areas and enjoy the peace and quiet of being in more of a hip residential neighborhood.

You won’t find many tourist attractions here, instead, you’ll find cool cafes, restaurants, bars and some great parks that the locals hang out.

Our pick for where to stay in Vrsovice is Czech Inn. The rooms are stylish and artistic inside a beautiful bourgeoisie building. The hotel overlooks a small park with a beautiful view of gorgeous buildings that make this neighborhood so special.
If you’re on a budget or traveling solo there are also clean and modern dormitory options. We would personally opt for the beautiful private rooms Czech Inn has to offer though.

Vinohrady
The Scene

This is where to stay in Prague if you’re looking for more of a local vibe and love checking out less touristy places and getting away from crowds.
Nearby Attractions
Vinohrady has one of the best beer gardens in Prague at Riegrovy Sady, a cool art deco theater, hip cafes, bars, global restaurants, and the beautiful church of St. Ludmila.

Pure White is a great option for Vinohrady. This contemporary hotel is located in a neoclassical apartment building and block. The rooms are minimalist but have beautiful artsy decor and breakfast is included.

Zizkov
The Scene
Home to the world’s 2nd ugliest building, Zizkov Tower, Zizkov is actually one of our favorite neighborhoods in Prague! This is where to stay if you want to find some more great, lesser-known attractions while still being pretty close to Old Town. Also, known as Prague 3, Zizkov is a lively neighborhood that attracts students and young adults for its nightlife.
Who it’s for
Zizkov is the best place to stay in Prague if you want another more residential neighborhood but still a close distance to the heart of the city.
This is also another trendy neighborhood full of hip spots, despite being home to the world’s 2nd ugliest building. This is also where to stay in Prague if you’re looking for a great nightlife scene.
Nearby Attractions
Zizkov shares Riegrovy Sady Beer Garden with Vinohrady which offers a great view, there’s also the ugly Zizkov Tower which shouldn’t be judged by just the outside, inside of the tower is a posh and swanky bar offering killer views of Prague, there’s also mini golf here at the base of the tower, and the New Jewish Cemetery where Franz Kafka is buried. If you like cool buildings you may want to check out the iconic Akropolis Theater while you’re at it.

The other, more affordable option is Hotel Theatrino located inside a gorgeous art nouveau building. The rooms are cozy, spacious, and bright with a complimentary breakfast. The best part would have to be the rooms with sitting areas featuring beautiful views of Prague centrally located in Zizkov. There’s also a sauna that the guests can use and a beautiful ballroom.
Letna
The Scene
Also known as Prague 7, Letna is a cool neighborhood that offeres killer views of Old Town from the opposite side of the Vltava River. This neighborhood has an amazing park and beer garden that draws the younger local crowd in the evenings. There’s a great food scene here and of course views.
Who it’s for
Letna is where to stay in Prague if you’re looking for a more quiet location that doesn’t sacrifice distance from such tourist sites like Prague Castle. This is a great neighborhood to stay in if you also like nightlife.

Staying in Letna means you’re on the same side of the river as Prague Castle and not too far away. Although, Letna itself offers one of the best views of the city from Letenske Sady, and amazing beer garden with a view at Letna Beer Garden, and the Metronome Monument.

These individual apartments are more than a hotel and besides being removed from the crowds, you’re actually only a 15-minute walk from Old Town. Karlin
The Scene
Once an industrial neighborhood, now a trendy and up and coming spot in Prague, Karlin is becoming the new ‘it’ spot in the city. Also known as Prague 8, you can find beautiful art nouveau architecture, old factories turned into cool restaurants, cafes, and galleries.

This is where to stay in Prague if you love the art and food scene. It’s also at a great location right along the Vltava River close to Old Town. This is a trendy neighborhood that also has great nightlife.

You’re not far from Old Town and New Town in Karlin. But Karlin itself offers a cool beer garden in Karlin Studios, galleries, wine bars, nightclubs, trendy restaurants, Lykcovo Namesti Square, Karlin Musical Theater, Forum Karlin a popular music venue, and St. Cyril and Methodius Church.

Vysehrad

Vysehrad is home to a historic fort and castle without the crowds located looking right over the Vltava River for some incredible views of Prague. This area is quiet and full of its own beauty as well as amazing views of Prague Castle across the river in the distance.

This is where to stay in Prague if you’re looking for a more quiet, removed area in the city without sacrificing convenience. You’re still close to Old Town by public transport or even by foot.
Nearby Attractions
Located right on the Vltava you can’t help but admire the views from here. The highlight attraction would be the Vysrehrad castle where you get the beauty of a castle without the crowds and stunning views. There’s also the fortress walls, the gorgeous gothic Basilica of St. Peter & St. Paul, and the stunning cemetery where famous composers, artists, and writers rest.

The King Charles Boutique Residence is fitting for Vysehrad because you feel like you’ve gone back in time. This unique hotel is set in a building from the 1910s and is decked out in retro decor making you feel like you’ve gone back in time and are royalty with opulent touches and antique old world style furniture. Don’t worry though, there are still televisions in the rooms! What’s even better is that you’re only a 3-minute walk to a tram stop and just a 10-minute walk to Vysehrad Castle.
